Protests against Nuclear Waste Transport
Unrest in Lüchow-Dannenberg. Greenpeace activists blocking an important road by a truck prepared with concrete blocks and chained activists inside. Thousands of people demonstrate against a transport of 11 Castor containers filled with high radioactive waste to Gorleben, Lower Saxony, Germany. The protest takes place shortly after the governments unpopular decision to extend the period of operation for german nuclear power plants for an additional decade.
