Operation Orpheus - Nawabad, Northern Afghanistan
ANA-soldiers watches germans talking to afghans. Joint patrol of german Bundeswehr and Afghan National Army in and around Nawabad. By rising presence ISAF wants to push out remain Taliban and occupy the former insurgent held region of Chahar Darah. Soldiers talk to local, recruit informers, check cars and try to figure out essential needs of Nawabads local polupaltion. late October 2011 Kunduz based 3.Task Force started a several days operation in and around Nawabad (District Chahar Darah), west of Kunduz, northern Afghanistan. During the Operation Orpheus about 100 german infantery soldiers rolled out for patrols through the town and surrounding areas, which were expected as a retreat zone of insurgents.
